5 4 3 2 1 Countdown

I am required to create a poster of a size of 1280 x 1024 and present it to Sweii, my lecturer for further review and to make sure I am right on track.

Below is the poster I've created which have to demonstrate 5 things:

5 benchmarks of the project
4 inspirations of the project
3 heroes for the project
2 theories for the project
1 issue of the project

5 Benchmark [How it looks like]
Patapon
The main inspiration for my final project. A video game published for the PlayStation Portable handheld game console combining gameplay features of a rhythm game and a god game. The characters in the game is triggered from the beat tapped by the users, each combination of beat tapped will trigger different actions.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy
Another game which is quite similar to Patapon and also the game I'm about the propose. This game is also based on the rhythm and user will also have to tap according it to launch attack on the monsters.

Kirby
This console game inspires me in terms of the concept of the game, side-scrolling and there're obstacles in the way where user will have to break the obstacles in order to get through.

MapleStory [side quest]
This game is an online MMORPG played using a computer. The side quest of this game is similar to the game i'm about to produce in terms of the interaction used. Tapping according to the beats and launching attacks on the opponent.

Way of the Dogg
This is a mobile game available in Google Play Store. The interaction is what inspires me from to produce my final project. Another tapping-onto-beat game to give an action to the avatar inside the game.

4 Inspiration
First inspiration is from Patapon, it inspires me to search for the game on mobile and I found out that there are no such game in App Store.

Second inspiration is from playing game. I use to play game when i'm bored to kill time. Therefore I am inspired to create game to help others to kill-time

Third inspiration is from music. Although i'm not much of a music person but I do listen songs and music which inspires me to do game about rhythm and beat.

Fourth inspiration is from guitar. During my sem break, i've started to play guitar and also from playing guitar it inspires me to do game about music and rhythm.

3 Heroes
Tara Hornor - a writer which talks about the use of minimalism, not only can be applied on web but a lot of other things such as prints and mobile.

Toni Sala - a professor that shares his experience on theories of game: rewarding & punishment, levels of difficulty.

Kyle Bolton - a interactive designer that talks about other game theories which are helpful for me to make my game better.

2 Theories
Rewarding & punishment
Levels of difficulty

1 Issue
Technical issues where I'm not sure on using Unity or Flash to develop my game.

This weather application is simple yet easy to get the sufficient amount of information out of it. The application is a focused app rather than having different features which do not serve the main purpose of application.

Darklings

Darklings is very much similar to Patapon, but instead of using beats and rhythm the change the interaction into gesture. Users have to draw according to the patterns of the monster.

"Love Your Eyes", using installation to advertise their products. Using new stuffs to attract crowds to promote their product. Tackling human's nature of curiousity.

Installation from The Fun Theory. Which a simple interaction, it brings fun to people and has the ability to attract crowd. I love their idea of bringing in "fun" into advertisting.

Let's Begin

Hello,
This is a study blog to document my process of formulating my ideas and insight on my final project. The final project is to be exhibited in public.

This is the proposal phase of my final project. In this phase I'll have to prepare:

1. A study blog
2. Statement of intent (3 pieces A4 sheet, to a pro forma layout, which works as a ‘cultural map’ locating your planned project.)

Both of these stuffs will have to be submitted on week 5. And I'll be meeting my assigned mentor based on the final project I've proposed on week 6.

Hopefully this blog will be able to show how I formulate my idea and produce the final outcome of the project proposed.
